JOB TITLE: Lead Safeguarding Officer
HOURS: 5 days a week (37.5 Hrs)
LOCATION: Home based with some requirement to travel to the BDA head office in Melton Mowbray.
DURATION: This post is currently on a fixed term basis until March 31st, 2022 and is subject to confirmation of a Sport England funding award.
The BDA is a partnership organisation with a core purpose to; ‘sustain, grow and develop the sport in partnership with the bowls family.’
Created by the Sport’s National Governing Bodies to channel Sport England investments into the sport, the BDA’s primary goal is to increase participation in bowls whilst ensuring the sport is inclusive and accessible for all. It champions collaborative working across the sport and works to develop NGB-affiliated clubs and their volunteers, safeguard participants and share best practice.
Bowls is a popular sport with low barriers to entry and opportunities to participate throughout the year. It is a sport that people of all ages and abilities can actively enjoy recreationally through to elite competition. The BDA currently has the reach of 5,000 clubs and 300,000 members across England.
The BDA is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and highly organised Lead Safeguarding Officer to help support the National Governing Bodies (NGB) and drive the standards of Safeguarding across the sport.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the core of the sport by supporting and working with the NGB’s to highlight the importance of safeguarding amongst our clubs and volunteer networks.
Applicants will be expected to have a good knowledge of legislation, government guidance and national frameworks for safeguarding both children and adults at risk. You will need to be a people person with the ability to work alongside and support key personal and volunteers. You will also need to demonstrate a good understanding of the sporting and safeguarding landscape as well as have experience in case management.
