All clubs should encourage their members and volunteers to attend relevant training courses to ensure that all children and vulnerable adults are safe within their clubs.
Coaches and Safeguarding Officers are required to complete training as part of their role.

Try our short interactive introduction to safeguarding which is ideal for any bowls club member who wants to know more about safeguarding. It is of particular relevance to Safeguarding or Welfare Officers in clubs/county associations. It is a good introduction for coaches who must also take one of the coach bowls courses in order to complete their coaching qualification. You can find the course by clicking here.

Safeguarding Officer Training
(4 hours – Coach Bowls)
This module covers all the information that any Safeguarding Officer may need to help them fulfil this vital role in their club or County.
It includes some basic safeguarding awareness for both adults and children, along with how to make a club a safer place for everyone, roles and responsibilities and highlights help and support.
This course replaces the old ‘Time to Listen’ course which focussed purely on children.

Safeguarding Awareness Module
(3 hours – Coach Bowls)
This Module is recommended for coaches, club officers and volunteers. It can be used as a stand-alone introduction to safeguarding in bowls, or as a precursor to further training.
The module focuses on understand safeguarding adults and children, and particularly those who may be at risk. It has been designed for anyone new to safeguarding or anyone who wants to gain more knowledge in the position they hold at their club. It covers essential information you need to know relating to safeguarding in bowls, how to recognise abuse, respond and report appropriately when a concern is raised.
