They are a part of Greenbank Care and believe that adults with learning disabilities and their families should be given credible and affordable alternatives to day service provisions.

For anyone, anywhere, any time!

“Just Bowl has brought so much fun to the groups. We have experienced lots of smiles and laughter, clearly indicating enjoyment!

We have also witnessed development in handwriting and addition skills. We introduced a large whiteboard where individuals would write team names and keep score of the points.

In the beginning, this required lots of encouragement from the staff, however, service users are now nominating themselves to come forward for the task. Even the less able individuals are asking to have a go with the staff’s help.

The different ways in which you can play Just Bowl have enhanced the bowling activity immensely!””

More on Impact

Impact wholeheartedly subscribes to the belief that each person is an individual and as such should be treated as one. They also aim to reduce isolation by supporting clients to create genuine friendships in the community.

Impact encourages clients to participate in activities within their own giftings and choice, allowing them to experience the same opportunities that others may have. They aim to plan activities based on the clients interests, even if this may be more of a challenge to organise.

Their aim is to support and empower those with learning disabilities to become all that they can become.

There's more to it than Just Bowl

Just Bowl developed a relationship with Greenbank Care in 2020 when they asked them to trial the equipment with their clients and it soon became a firm favourite with the staff and groups.

Greenbank have used various techniques to create an atmosphere and transport the participants to where they want to be. These include, having theme days such as 70s, 80s and 90s, Abba, James Bond, countries and flags and bowling birthday parties.

Mixing it up with 10-pin Bowling

Additionally, as some of the groups used to enjoy visiting the 10-pin bowling alley, the staff have occasionally adapted the equipment and incorporated food and drink that are available at the alley to give the group an authentic experience. They have also introduced sensory bowling by incorporating relaxing, therapeutic calming music, lights and bubble machines, or no music at all with the participants concentrating on just the touch and texture of the equipment.

The staff have also used Just Bowl as a seated activity to improve the fun element for less abled users and have even decorated their chairs. The staff have also used Just Bowl as a calming influence on a 1:1 ratio when group sessions have become too overwhelming for some participants.
